    Traveled to Canada for 20 days after entering the U.S. on a K-1 visa (June 1–22). Seeking reentry under Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR).
    I entered the U.S. on a K-1 visa on June 1st and left for Canada on June 2nd, remaining here for 20 days. I am now attempting to return to the U.S. through Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ) using Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR). My K-1 visa is expired, but my I-94 is still valid. Am I ok?

    Wrong USCIS application form filed by my lawyer!
    Hello, so my wife came in k-1 visa to USA and we got married and all. We filled for work permit and green card together but while doing that my lawyer filed for I-130 no idea why. Will that application make my process for work permit and green card slow? If so how do I withdrawal that application? My lawyer isn’t helpful at all. I need some help…

    Seeking advice for Thai/US couple - What US visa path to take?
    My gf and I live in Thailand but spend 2-4months in the US per year. Once/if we have children age 5+, the time split would become vice versa. We have no plans to live full-time in the United States in the next 5 years, but I visit my family and friends 2-3x per year for 2-3 weeks at a time. I would love it if she can join me for those trips and experience that part of my life. What options do we have -- US visa wise, maybe a tourist or fiance visa later? Other?

    Abandoned AOS and now regret it
    Please be nice, I know I made a mistake... But got my K1 approved and arrived in the US June 25, 2024 and applied for AOS February 25, 2025 -- then left the US (abandoned my AOS). Will I be banned for re-entry to the US -- even under a spouse visa?

    Hi all, I want to keep it as short as possible. I have a question on possible scenarios and best options before I involve lawyers or the police, which I was about to do today. My husband is waiting for his GC, the interview was back in early May. The approval letter came soon after, but then nothing. He says the system says the green card has been delivered and that I stole his documents.

    He does not drive, has no job, no income or savings, relies on me for everything from getting the groceries to paying our bills. It was not my intention to have it that way - I offered to have a joint account but he says he wants his own, but first has to secure a job, and he will be learning to drive as soon as he has secured an income. All he's doing is applying and interview prepping for remote IT work, he has solid resume but no local US work experience of course, and the market is weird now. I am willing to move wherever, as I am working remotely as well, and drive him to the office, if needed. It's been six months since he got his work permit but he says he applied around and no bank would open him an account without the green card.

    Lately he started to get abusive both verbally and physically. The day before yesterday he accused me of refusing to take him to the hospital, as he is in great pain from me supposedly breaking his rib. He got violent the other day and broke down the bedroom door screaming he is going to hit me, and when the door gave up I ran out to the car and pushed him off my way so that is what he might be referring to when he says I injured him. I did not involve the police that time out of shock, and I have no evidence expect for the photos of the door, which he since fixed somewhat. He now also claims I broke it myself. So when I offered to take him to ER he just shut down and kept repeating that I am refusing to help him. It was so wild! I started recording every conversation since then, although we don't speak English there...would that be a problem using it as evidence? He slammed doors again, which just made me instantly panic, so I packed up and drove to my mom's place which is less that two hours away, seeing that he said I am abandoning him and he's going to die there in need of urgent care with no means to call for or get help. As he has no one in this country except for me and is very close with his parents, I have expressed my desire to contact them to either get them to get through to him, or to help him move on his own, to which he always reacts violently. So this morning I got audio recordings of him screaming he will kill and bury me and my parents if I even think about contacting his family. That he will make it his life's mission to destroy me if I hurt his parents. So, I want to report him to the police as I got very scared and it is very serious threats. I left that instant. I stopped by the police station but they were closed for the day and gave me deputy's number. So I'm thinking all these audio recordings I have are not in English though. How do I go about it? I also have a video of him blocking the doorway with his body and rolling on the floor repeating "please stop hitting me" where it is clearly seen I am not touching him at all. He does not speak English there as well. He accused me of cheating and lying and marrying him for money. This all is absolutely not true and I suspect he is not of sound mind considering it all. I have packed my things and left to a safe place for now, the fridge is fully stocked, the rent is paid through end of August. He has no money to pay for anything, he claims his phone line is off so he can't call for help and I abandoned him there in the desert all alone with no means to get help. I have offered to drive him to the airport and buy a ticket back home before, if that is what he wants, it never came out to anything though. So my question is, if I go to the police, and present them with what I have, what is likely happen? He has expressed that he basically hates me and my entire bloodline, and he knows my parents' address, in fact, it's his official mailing address. I am his one and only sponsor as well. I would like to stop financing this horror asap but I also I don't want him to get arrested and endanger my family by angering him even more...who knows what he might do? He might hurt himself and accuse me of it? Please advise! Thank you

    K-1 Fiancée visa application & travel ban

    Hi everyone and thanks for reading. My fianc e has a Venezuelan passport but she s lived in Colombia for the last 6 years. We have met each other 3 times in the past 1 year and just recently got engaged. Reading details of the visa ban and seeing Venezuela included as one of the partially banned countries and I m in a strong dilemma as to whether to still proceed with K-1 visa application or get married in Colombia and just file I-130. Pros and cons for both. Heard K-1 is generally faster but also apparently people in banned countries are getting rejected because of the travel ban.
    Any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated and is there anyone on this forum that has recently applied or got a denial or approval for K-1 visa in any of the fully or partially banned countries?? I m hearing different things on K-1 exempt or non exempt as part of travel ban and not sure what to believe.

    Waiting 19 months for I-130 approval, WHAT CAN WE DO?

    We filed in December 2023. Since then there has been ZERO activity on our case, just endless waiting. I have contacted the office of my Congressional rep, they said they could only assist if we met one of the conditions for expedited processing -- in which case, I wouldn't need the office's help, I would just file the petition with USCIS directly.

    I contacted the office of my US Senator, with no response.

    What can we do? Can we hire a lawyer? It seems like our application has disappeared into a black hole.

    Citizenship and Pending tax - 10 years old,what next to do ?

    Green card holder here and I went through a separation,divorce situation about 11 years back. After I was divorced for that year I received alimony and started doing some small local works for payment by cash. Money was tight and I couldnt pay taxes that year and went into depression because of divorce, was jobless and living with my folks for two years while I improved. Had no income for those years and no taxes. Got a job after that and has been current on tax and filing.For the year I didnt file or pay taxes, I had brought forward the refund from previous year and applied to state and federal tax. Federal send me a refund check for that after a year as they saw no filing. State kept the tax I paid.

    I filed for N400 and on the form I checked the box that I owe tax and also attached a letter that I owe tax and will be going on a payment plan. Months before the interview I calculated tax owed for the unpaid year and because of expenses for my self employment I found I didnt have net income that is taxable. Since I didnt owe tax as per my calculation I didnt file or pay tax.

    During interview they didnt ask me about tax. I got approved. I was told will be called for Oath but its been several months.

    Because it got delayed I got worried and got in touch with an attorney who asked me to verify the tax for that unpaid year with tax consultant to see if my calculations were right. Seems some of my expenses cannot be claimed so I owe tax ! Luckily the state tax I already paid well covers it (and I should get a refund but its many years back so I cant claim refund). The federal part (though I paid it, they refunded it as there was no filing) I still owe. No filing done for state or federal. Both state and federal don't have any transcripts or income information for that year (because its alimony and self employment and so no W2 or 1099) which is why I got no notice from them.

    I am unsure how to handle this. I was honest in my N400 that I owe. My self calculation errored me. I only owe federal tax. State already has my money. For both no filing done. This is 10 years back. Been current on all taxes since that.

    - Can I be considered misrepresenting ?
    - Does USCIS only consider taxes for past 5 years (and not something 10 years old)
    - Is my case beyond repair now and can be deported ? Or is it better to not go for Oath or Withdraw my N400 and fix everything and reapply ?

    One immigration attorney I spoke to said since I have come this far, to wait and see and if they deny or ask for RFE deal with it then, else take oath and be done with it.

    Travel - I also will be going for a 3 week travel outside US for a very important matter and I have been delaying that for so long that I have reached a deadline and should travel. Is it safe to travel with this situation now. What if N400 is denied while I am outside , will I be stopped and turned back on re entry.

    DS-260 Social Media Questions

    Hi! Husband filing CR1 for a spouse. Few questions about social media as it relates to DS-260.

    1) Is she required to list her social media usernames?

    2) What if my wife deactivated one or more Facebook accounts in the last few years? Is she still required to list that on the DS-260?

    3) For all of her deactivated Facebook accounts, is she required to reactivate them all for NVC purposes? At least one of her deactivated accounts involves a major past trauma.

    4) What if it's a deleted YouTube account that was she frequently used (ie. with uploaded videos)? Is she required to list that one as well?

      Hey you OldUser:  Can you help remind me where on VisaJourney we can go an view applicants with similar Visa applications to get a real idea of where we stand in the line?  Or maybe it is easier to go somewhere on the USCIS website??   We applied for my Wife's adult brother some 12 years ago and originally we thought it was going to b a 20 year process....it sounds like it might be a much longer process putting in jeopardy his ability to bring his under 21 year old children along with his wife.   Thanks, Eric

      1. i am so confused between these two. the first one states I should include my husband’s current annual income and he got a higher annual income now since he got promoted to a new position in the company a week before our wedding.
       
      and the 2nd one shows his recent 2024 annual income and it’s a different amount from his previous position in the same company. is it ok if both amounts are different?
      2. hubby had jr in our petition but it was omitted on our marriage certificate, for i-864 and i-485 should we continue using our last name with jr?
       
      3. in the i-864 should we include hubby’s current job position in the same company, even it it’s different from the i-134 job position he has?

      I have a question. my i485 was denied because of affidavit wasn't done incorrectly. but my son case still pending. should I refile for him or just myself? when I refile should I add him on the new affidavit even though his case still pending? what's the best way to fill out a i864 with a joint sponsor if my spouse doesn't meet the requirements? Is my son case on Hold till I sort my stuff out? or will it be denied? sorry a lot of questions thanks in advance

      Well, the Journey is over. My wife became a US citizen on July 1st 2025.
      I want to thank all the people here for the help along the way.
      When we started this, I was just looking for information about the different visa options. And stumbled on to this site.
      Little did I know, that I would actually find a "second" family of friends, helpful resources and people willing to actually help a Newby along the way.
      We did all the paperwork from beginning to end ourselves; and yes some mistakes were made that costs time and money but it was learning experience and I hope that anyone reading our timeline, learns how to avoid them and make the right moves for their journey.
      Special thanks to @Hank who hasn't been online in a couple years but I think was the most informed person here on anything about the Philippines and to all the ones that answered my questions no matter how simple they seemed to be. 
      Although we have made to the end of our rainbow, I will be checking in and hopefully get to use the things I have learned to help others along their Visa Journey.
